Meet the editor: Kelsey Haslam
Hi, I’m Kelsey – a travel writer, freelance journalist, and content marketing manager based in Manchester, UK.
I launched Magenta Adventures as a personal passion project, inspired by my love of travel and storytelling. Since then, I’ve deepened my craft through a Master’s in International Journalism and hands-on experience as a freelance writer in travel, lifestyle, and culture.
What began as a simple travel blog has grown into a multi-faceted platform shaped by three core passions: Travel, Theatre, and Tales. These strands reflect the full scope of my interests and the stories I want to share.
Our passions
Travel remains the heart of Magenta Adventures, featuring everything from luxury stays to budget-friendly tips and destination guides. After receiving countless questions like “How do you afford to travel?” and “How do you plan your trips?”, I realised how much of the behind-the-scenes reality gets left out of social media. I didn’t grow up travelling. In fact, my first time abroad was at 16. But that single trip lit a fire in me that’s taken me across continents, driven by passion more than privilege. I want to share that path and show that travel can be accessible, intentional, and deeply rewarding, despite growing up on a council estate in Manchester!
Theatre is a personal love that I couldn’t ignore – from West End shows to fringe productions, musicals to modern plays. With a dedicated section of reviews and reflections, I celebrate the stories that come to life on stage and the creative worlds that inspire us off it.
Tales is the most recent and perhaps most meaningful addition. This is a space to spotlight the inspirational people I meet along the way. Through interviews, profiles, and unheard voices, Tales is where human connection and inspiration take centre stage.
Together, these three categories form the heart of Magenta Adventures – a space for meaningful stories, honest reflections, and unforgettable journeys.
